Alias Online Adventure Game FAQ

How do I get started?
Just talk to Agent Weiss, and tell him you want to join the CIA. That should get the ball rolling.

How long does the game last?
The game is made up by a series of adventures, lasting 3-6 weeks total. Each adventure is made up of several chapters, each lasting a few weeks. Each chapter has 4-6 missions as a part of it. Each mission should take between 10 - 30 minutes, but could take longer, depending on the player.

How do you start a mission?
It's pretty simple, once you get the hang of it. At the end of any mission (and when you ask to join the CIA initially), Agent Weiss will give you a unique mission codeword. Starting a mission requires you to type "Codeword:", followed by the unique mission codeword. For example, he might say "your mission codeword is ABC." To start that mission, just type "Codeword: ABC". You will never get the same codeword twice.

How do you end a mission?
Ending a mission is similar to starting a mission. When you've completed a mission, you type your unique mission codeword, followed by a colon, then your answer. Continuing the example above, if the solution to mission ABC was "Sunday 9/8c", you would type "ABC: Sunday 9/8c".

Can I take a break from the game?
You sure can. There's no time limit for finishing each week's missions.

Should I save all my codewords?
We recommend writing all of your codewords down and saving them. That way, if you want to take a break from the game, you can always come back later, and start right away by typing "Codeword:", and entering the last codeword you've been given.

Should I save all of my answers?
We recommend saving all of your answers, too. Answers to missions this week may be clues to other missions next week.

What if I forget my codeword?
That's why we recommend writing them all down!

Where do I look for clues?
You can look anywhere you want, but each part of a mission will usually point you in a specific direction. Just make sure to take your time and read everything.

Will the missions get harder after the first week?
You bet. The missions are designed to get you used to communicating with Agent Weiss, and seeing information in a different way. There's lots of information already being passed around in plain sight, and a good agent knows how to spot something that everyone else just glosses over. As the story progresses, the clues will become more complicated, harder to spot, and will even require you to grow your internet skills.

What does "Beta" mean?
A Beta essentially means were still developing this game. We are having an open Beta, to allow our loyal fans the opportunity to help us develop the game to the best of our ability. It also means, though, that things may go wrong from time to time as we still work out the bugs. It's a little like getting a sneak peak at the game, before it's finished.

Is Agent Weiss real?
The character sure is, but the Agent Weiss in this game is a "Bot." A Bot is a computer robot, programmed to act like a real person. So, no, he's not (but if you ask him, he'll insist he is!). Agent Weiss (and our other Bots) are based on the ALICE program, created by Dr. Richard S. Wallace, Jon Baer, Noel Bush, and members of the ALICE AI Foundation. You can download the technology and create your own Bot, and we encourage you to do so, if you're so inclined!

Will my email address be used for anything?
When you email any clues as part of the game, your email address will be stored FOR GAME PURPOSES ONLY. We may email you when your next mission is available, and we may email you to ask you about your experience with the game, but that's it. We will not use your email address for any other purposes. No newsletters, no marketing materials, no SPAM, no information about Alias or any other ABC programs, nothing. That's not the point of this game, and we hate getting that stuff too, unless we specifically ask for it.

Are there other Agents out there?
Maybe. Maybe not. You'll have to find out on your own.

Does this game have anything to do with the show?
It's entirely possible that the missions you complete today could help out Sydney, Will, Vaughn, Jack and the others. Guess you'll just have to tune in to find out.

I'm stuck. Can I get help from other players?
You sure can, but be careful. SD-6 operatives are out there, hoping to subvert our young CIA recruits.

What can I win by playing this game?
The satisfaction of completing the game, and taking an active role in an unfolding story.
